    Hello,

Please excuse the English, as I don't know the first word in Czech (yet).

I'm thinking of doing this 1,200km ride this summer from Dresden to Regensburg through Prague, Brno, and Linz.

Are there sections you think are not worth it, and I should just skip them and hop on the train — I travel with a folding bike for just that purpose?

    Thank you.

Hi, I would suggest using mapy.cz – not just for planning in CZ, but basically anywhere in the world :)

I've checked the part between Litomerice and Kutna Hora and it looks good, just before Kutna Hora from SUchdol, the road will be a bit more busy, but not for long time…

Also the route from Ceske Budejovice to the border looks good since you're avoiding the main road to cesky krumlov… this one is the worst…

Hi, I believe you should get from Dresden to Prague using cycle path number 2. Using mapy.cz (they also have Android and iOS apps and support English language) is good idea, you have there tourist and cycling paths in Czech Republic, you can download offline maps.

I not sure if I will be able to (speaking of my medical condition) but I could join you say from Decin to Usti (Aussig) or form Usti to Prague, but I am not able to say right now.

Hi, from Litovel to Olomouc I recommend use bike path though „Litovelské pomoraví“.

You planned route though military area „Březina“ (between Hamry and Repechy), which is only partially accessible (Fri: 15–22, Sat+Sun: 6–22). It can be passed via route 377 from Žárovice to Drahany, which is accessible almost all of the time.

Thanks much everyone. I updated the map accordingly.

I use BRouter to plan bike trips. Overall, it draws good routes and… sometimes not :-p

Unless I missed it or it's a commercial option, I saw no bike map in Mapy.cz, and BRouter shows no „cycle path number 2“; It might be a local name for EV7.

As plan B if I get tired some days, I'll keep a map of the train routes.

      Thanks again.

Na mapy.cz si stačí zapnout turistickou mapu a jsou viditelné všechny cyklostezky. Při plánování tras lze zapnout filtrování naplánované trasy podle horského kola nebo silničního kola.

Mapy.cz don't have a dedicated bike map, but they do have the „Outdoor“ map which is also the default one for the android/ios app, and shows cycling routes, cycleways, marked hiking/skiing trails as well as elevation contours.

I also use BRouter for planning in .cz and I like it, so good choice :) (I use „fastbike“ profile though, but I see you probably more like touring)

Regarding your route, I think the cycleway north of Brno, from Adamov to Blansko, is closed till August . I'd suggest going from Adamov to Josefov, Olomučany, Blansko, or Rudice, Jedovnice, and completely excluding Blansko.

Actually it is the EV7 (Euro velo 7) or 2 (perhaps local name). You don't have to go to Melnik, you can a shortcut using mapy.cz and switch to Outdoor/Tourist map. See attached picture. But if weather will be OK for you and you will enjoy the Elbe rad weg, of course follow the Elbe the all the way and enjoy it.

Also, there is actually website dedicated to Elbe rad weg: https://www.elberadweg.de/

Here is the picture in mapy.cz. I believe it is the third option for the Outdoor/Tourist map, I do not speak German well :)

You can plan there a course pretty well, in the planner you can select mountain bike, race bike… and manually change the course. I found it works best if you select option „on foot; zum fuss“ and manually edit the course. If you create account in mapy.cz you save the course in your account, probably you can also export gpx even without an account.

Maybe you could specify your interests… So we can give better advice.. If you are interested in cities dont miss Litomyšl And Telč

If in nature dont miss České středohoří, you will hardly find such a landscape anywhere else.

Mapy cz higly recomended, asi you can also find some most interesting spots there..

as many people here, I suggest you to use mapy.cz as well. you may download off line maps into you mobile, so you will not be dependent on the data signal. (which is in CZ very good, regardless „blind“ places in mountains). I use mapy.cz in foreign countries as well. they provide much more geographical details than e.g. google maps. in case you will create account, you may plan the route in PC, save it and see the same in your mobile device.

in CZ, you may ride everywhere where it is not forbidden. in touristic paths as well. there is no dependency for cycling lines only.

advantage is, that almost each 10 kms you will reach village – where you may fill your food/ drinks.

you will visit CZ in good time: from 1.1.2022 there is min. 1,5 m distance by cars from the cyclist :-)

I checked your trip from the border till Benešov.

      --

Praha: prolongue the Dlouhá street, continue to Staroměstské náměstí. you will find Orloj, tower clock from Year 1410. it rings each full hour (from 9 till 21). than with Jilská-Náprstkova you could connect to your route. in Karlovy Lázně area turn your head to the right side. above Vltava river you will see Pražský hrad, the biggest castle space in the world.

in Praha, I advice you to board to Metro, Pražského povstání. hop off in Háje (last station). traveling via this part of Prague by bike is not very exciting. from Opatovská street connect to yours.

      --

ok is from Červený Hrádek till the border. Telč is very nice town.

      --

as jamaco mentioned, you will miss a lot off nice populated places in CZ (Mělník, Litomyšl). but I understand, trip will be very long to stop each 30 min… :-)

which kind of bike you will cycle with?
